Whew. 2016 has been…wow 😅
There has been a lot of happiness, a lot of sadness, a lot of love, a lot of pain. A whole lot of laughing and just as much crying. But no matter how hormonal I was/am, one thing is constant: my Jesus. I’ve been happier than I have been in a long time and everyday I rejoice and thank God for what He’s given to me.
Over the course of this year, there has always been a word that would pop up and become my stronghold word: Rejoice. It comes from my favorite verse, Philippians 4:4 that says:
After I got baptized, I was overcome with a feeling of joy and more joy. After a breakup earlier this year, I was broken, but I would keep seeing this word, rejoice. Rejoicing in the Lord always doesn’t stop at a time when your sad. It means always. Even when everything went the exact opposite of how I thought it should have, it reminds me that even then, I need to drop to my knees and pray and ask for joy.
My favorite part about that verse is how it is so important to rejoice that He tells you twice! Like He’s saying : “Rejoice! I mean it!”
So while we’re going into 2017, remember these things:
You’re new. Everyday. Not just cause it’s a new year.
You’re loved. Immensely.
You’re forgiven. Even if you think you don’t think you deserve it.
And this is a time to rejoice. Today is brand new. This year, my friend, is new! You have a choice to rejoice and live in joy every. single. day!
Choose joy. Over and over and over. May these next 365 days purposeful and joyful. Happy 2017, y’all! 🎉
