No. 52: m’s story

“When M was born, we were informed that she’d had a stroke during my pregnancy, and it destroyed me. I held it together on the outside, but inside I was dying. Literally. I dove deep into substance abuse to cope with being a special needs mom and blamed God for robbing her of her life – of our lives. I had developed this warped sense of reality that God was a punisher, and that what happened to M was my fault for all the bad things I had done in my life. But He had a marvelous plan for M’s life. Romans 8:28 says “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” See, M is a light in this dark world. She brings joy to everyone she meets, loves without fail, and one of her favorite things to do is sing praises to Jesus every chance she gets. God CHOSE me to be her mom. He CHOSE her to live and thrive, and to show me and everyone she meets what love looks like.”
